1983-1984 - 1983 Oldsmobile Ciera Pro Stock
By the spring of 1983, Dyno’s hiatus was over. He would hook up with Washington’s, Ralph Woodall who had landed himself an Oldsmobile Pro Stock deal. A deal that Dyno had shown interested in himself. Dyno was offered the drivers seat and took the controls for 1983 and 1984. Ray Cunningham built the flawless chassis and Ralph built the 500 cubic engine using a cast block, aluminum heads and nitrite crank supplied by GM. For IHRA and match racing, the team relied upon a 560 inch engine. Dyno and the Olds ran eight national events through 1984 and qualified at five of them. Don’s best showing was a number 8 qualifying position at the Cajun Nationals in Baton Rouge. Don had no financial stake in the car and when money dried up at the end of the 1984 season, he moved on.
