1962 - 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Super/Super Stock

The sports coupe Bel-Air brought Don another NHRA Winternationals win. This was preceded by a AHRA Winter Nationals runner-up finish. No denying, Dyno put the 409 on the map. So popular was his Bel-Air, its believed the Beach Boys were influenced by it to write the hit song, 409. Don was preparing his car out of his two car garage in Durate, California when he received a job offer he couldn’t refuse. Nalley Chevrolet in Atlanta, Georgia liked what they saw in Don and offered him the run of the dyno and tune-up bay, and a new car if he were to come and work for them. Don made the move which proved to be a win-win. Nalley was headquarters for SEDCO, the Southern Engineering and Development Company, a front for Chevys clandestine racing program.
