1968 - 1968 Mercury Cougar “Eliminator” Funny Car (#2)

A new Cougar body was procured from Fiberglass Ltd. and mounted to the Logghe chassis of Don’s 1967 Comet. The new Cougar would debut in August. At the NHRA Nationals held over the Labor Day weekend, Don would win class and set low ET for the Funnies with a 7.84. He marched to the Super Eliminator final but fell short to the quicker and faster AA/C of Paul Stage. Tired of the Funny Cars, Don relinquished the seat to Frank Oglesby after a match race where he ran the quickest he ever would, a 7.32.
