1968 - 1968 Mercury Cougar Eliminator Jr SS/FA

Another one race only car for Don was the Pfeiffer Lincoln-Mercury sponsored SS/FA, 428 Cougar. Don raced it at the NHRA Nationals but made only a pass or two due to a mix up in the technical papers that Ford had provided to the sanctioning body. According to a Petersen magazine article published at the time, minimum weight of the car should have been 200 pounds more than what it was. An extremely rare car, there were maybe ten of these XR-7 GT Cougars built. Where this one disappeared to has never been determined.
