1981-1982 - 1980 Fox Body Ford Mustang Pro Stock

Don ran just three NHRA national events in 1981 and two in 1982. With The NHRA going to a 500 cubic inch, 2,350-pound minimum Pro Stock rules in 1982, Don gave up on the Cleveland and went to with a destroked Boss 429 measuring 372 inches. It was a great design which Don had worked out late the previous season with Jon Kaase. Don retired from NHRA competition shortly after the Gatornationals in March. At the time, Dyno had just the one engine so was a little reluctant to “lean” on it. He qualified 7th at the Gators with an 8.48, won the first round and lost the second to eventual event winner, Frank Iaconio.
