1985 - 1985 Ford Thunderbird Pro Stock (Sicinski)

In 1985 Don connected with old acquaintance, Frank Sicinski of New Caney, Texas. Frank was campaigning a Willie Rells Pro Stock Thunderbird. Powering the car would be a 500 inch Boss motor built by Earl Wade. It was Earl who suggested that they put Don behind the wheel of the Thunderbird. Don ended up driving the car at the Winternationals, Phoenix and Gainsville in 1985. He failed to qualify at the latter two races and his number 7 qualifying position at the Winternationals would be the last time Don qualified at a NHRA national event. The best times Don managed with the Thunderbird were a 7.60 at 183 mph.
